       Respected scientific research journals are finally beginning to publish papers on the possible causative influence of psychic and
occult variables. As of the middle 1980s, no book intending to present a comprehensive overview of the most probable causes of severe
love-shyness could afford to ignore such factors. Accordingly, I offer this chapter as a brief summary of the very best of what is known or
suspected at this time.
