Looking at mental and physical differences a clear pattern emerges, most of which favour men.

Men have significantly superior visual-spatial ability which gives men a clear edge in fields like physics, technology and many aspects of mathematics. It's no accident that technology continues to be advanced by men.

There is also some evidence to suggest that men may have slightly higher IQs, by about 4 points. This small difference means that there are far more men of very high IQ.

Psychologically men deal with dangerous and stressful situations better than women do, women are more likely to panic and become overly emotional.

Physically men are far stronger and have significantly more speed and endurance. The physical advantage is often overlooked these days but the strength of men is crucial in many occupations that are vital to civilization.

So on average I'd say that men are superior.

Women have the upper hand in the dating game and relationships. Obviously.

You are right ... but don't miss the details that "dating game" :) includes both sexes, so it is impossible without men :) . The behaviour is different.

Maybe it must be realized - men are, were and awlays will be the superior sex; in our modern society women try to appear equal to men ... but it is simply impossible. Realize that being a man gives you inherent superiority over women.

Superior in what way? As far as I can tell, both men and women suck at almost everything equally.

Bullshit!, who invented modern air travel, computers, trains, cars and all the other modern inventions that have made the lives of humans more safer and convenient? MEN!!

A man even invented the female tampon, that said, I do acknowledge that there are some very intelligent and clever women, and that both men and women have their strengths and weaknesses.

But when it comes to inventing stuff, sorry, men are superior.

See, that's funny, because both men and women have failed to invent some things that I think it would be very important to invent.

Immortality comes to mind, as does faster-than-light space travel.

So both men and women suck at inventing, and we can pretty much chalk up any differences to societal bias and methodological error.

My god are you serious? Men invent more stuff than women, & we've invented plenty of useful things. Who cares if we haven't invented the stuff you want? Women have plenty of opportunity to create things, but they CHOOSE not to.

Men have also invented far more useless, annoying, and harmful things.

We judge a batter by his batting average, not the number of hits he has over his whole career. I judge men and women to be about equally awful on average. Men man have more hits, but, then again, they swing more. I agree that more women should choose hard science and technology, but I think that about men, too.

No, they are simply not able.

Women simply cannot choose "hard science and technology" as an average rule - they are not good enough, lack the abilities. Their thinking is different; the answer of 'why' is not even so important - facts are everywhere.

Men and women in general have different specialties. Both of these skill sets are invaluable to a society. Therefore both men and women are important, and neither is superior to the other overall.

To those who say that men have done most of the notable things in human history, I would like to point out that this includes both the bad and the good. Males invented things such as the iron maiden, gas chambers that look like showers, and the vast majority of weapons that are used not for self-denfense or for hunting purposes, but just to kill others. They've also found things like penicillin, the polio vaccine, and other invaluable lifesaving technologies.

If men are the strivers, the ones that push society forward, women are the ones that hold society together. Being more emotional and socially-minded than males, they keep humanity in more of a group environment. Male individualism is channeled towards the betterment of the society as a whole. Females emphasize compassion and togetherness, traits that make humanity stronger than it's individual parts.

And of course, let's not forget reproduction. The most important facet to ensuring the survival of a species is the ability to produce offspring, and both males and females play vital roles to this.

I agree men have invented harmful things like nuclear weapons (although nuclear energy is an efficient way to produce electricity), landmines, chemical weapons, guns etc, and this is an abuse of scientific knowledge, but what about the mainly good things men have invented and developed like aircraft, cars, irrigation, mass food production etc?

You can’t invent something that’s physically impossible.

I bet that those two things if ever invented somewhere in the future - they will be invented by men :D .

Best argument in this entire thread.

You could argue superiority of each sex in different animals... but the human species is broken... at an evolutionary crossroads where happiness is elusive and lasting peace is impossible... perhaps one day we will evolve past our shortcomings, but until then it matters little whether our broken society is a matriarchy or a patriarchy... we're still fucked.

In my humble opinion, the bad things balance out the good things so much that it doesn't matter.
