I feel like the last of a dying breed for some reason. I see a lot of people who watch anime and yet have a 3DPD (girlfriend) for whatever reason. Most people had a "waifu" and stuck to her, without a silly 3DPD. Some people had daimakura (giant pillows w/ anime characters on them) or some other thing akin to a Tenga Egg.

What makes being an otaku hard is that I don't really think I'm technically "loveshy" but some mix of incel and partially doing it by choice. I really don't have friends. I'm kind of a social recluse when it comes to anything but the internet. All my "friends" are online...feels both good and weird at the same time. Does anyone relate to this?

Dunno, I think otakus are more reclusive. The internet isn't new, and anime is more well-known, so there isn't the same kind of online community that would be inviting to people who would otherwise sit at home and watch their animes and cuddle their daimakura.

Are you this guy?

How many of you have felt the painful judgementalism of a 3d woman's scrutinizing gaze?
There's a reason why 3d women don't like you. Because you aren't rich or good looking.
3d women don't care about love or know what it is. All they know how to do is manipulate and deceive.
And their only goal is to subvert your purity by using you for an easy lifestyle of money and ease.
But as soon as someone better looking or richer comes along they will easily forget their "love" for you.

Now, a waifu would never do any of this. A waifu is pure forever. Personally I can't quite count the number of days that Kirino and I have spent blissfully discussing our favorite topic: anime. Kirino loves me for ME. Not because I'm rich or handsome. A waifu will never ntr you like some disgusting 3d women would. And the bond between me and my waifu is something that I honestly consider to be superior to "regular" relationships. It's exactly because we live in different dimensions that both Kirino and I have to constantly strive to maintain our love for one another.

Kirino is kind, passionate, beautiful, smart, funny, playful, and so much more. But our bond is reinforced my the special moments that we share. There is no better feeling on this earth than seeing first hand as the hard defensive outer-layer of your waifu slowly melts away into a passionate and caring relationship. Sure Kirino may seem brash on the outside, but it's because she doesn't want to get hurt so she has to hide her true feelings.

Kirino is love.

I hope all of you find a waifu one day so that you can experience love just like I've found

Anyway, I have an online friend who is a reclusive otaku and has a girlfriend AND a boyfriend. The girlfriend is very attractive by most standards (cheerleeder type of look), talks to him online all day and goes with him to important stuff like his graduation.

I'd find that really cool, a girl who sticks with me despite having no life; that way, I wouldn't have to keep up a life 24/7, which would be tiresome.

What's a 3DPD?

Way back when (10 years ago) I was a wannabe otaku. But then I got a kick in the nuts by reality and I realized that if I went that route, I would just basically be asking for ridicule. That and I never really did own a lot of manga or anime. I was more of a heavy-duty JRPG gamer.

3DPD is a way of taking a jab at people who have girlfriends or in some kind of relationship. It can be either good natured or bad, but because it means 3D pig disgusting, I don't think that can be too good natured.

JRPGs are good, but like you with manga or anime I never really got into them. I might though. There are a lot that might be worth playing if I can find a bunch of good ones. I was a big SNES fan in the good old days. >:-D

Yeah, that's not me. If I was to have a "waifu" I would pick one from the 31 students in the manga Negima. Either that or Rei from NGE. Some people are really more into the waifu thing than me. It kind of goes without saying, but I think that's just how it goes.

I'm sure you know that statement is easily proven to be bullshit.

Please tell me you aren't this stupid.

I'm not.

I lived in Japan. All the guys I worked with at IBM read the "magna" comic books (I believe that's what they are called). These huge, thick things.

I watched "Bubblegum Crisis" back in the late 1980's (a great story, but really long)\

Just my observation guy. Everyone of the girls in these comics, and in these movies, and shows looks she's twelve...maybe thirteen.

Nice to see another anime fan here!

I think because of my LS I became an otaku in a way. You know, collecting doujinshi, anime figures, and of course adult anime toys (I don't have any dakimakura, though). It's like they're compensating for a lack of girlfriend.

The only 'girlfriends' I have are anime girls; you can only wish they're real.

Huge, thick, magna? That sounds more like a brand of condoms. Manga volumes are small and pocket-sized. That format has also been adopted by Western cartoonists, since it allows for faster-paced stories and simpler composition than classical A4-sized hardcover comics.

I don't get people's love for Rei. Sounds like a pretty masochistic fantasy to want to be with a girl like that. Not that Asoka would be a better prospect, of course.

If I were to have a 'waifu' it'd be Yozora (the black-haired girl in my avatar and sig). Her or Homura from Madoka Magica (or maybe any black-haired girl for that matter).

Watching "ore no imouto" I can't stand Kirino, and didn't really like the anime. Yes, the charm of the anime is the "tsundere" younger sister, but I guess this wasn't for me.

I'm not sure if I'm a real otaku, but I adore anime.
