I want to learn how to drive (I have the money saved for it and everything) but I just think I will be crap at it, and the thing with driving is that if you are crap at it, you can endanger other people. That freaks me out a silly amount. Also, I instinctively don't know left from right (stupid, I know. I have to stop and think about it, and make a 'L' sign with my left hand sometimes. Something probably not conducive to driving...)

Yeah, I have to do the same thing half the the time. I'm also completely retarded when it comes to streets/directions/etc. A couple of years ago I got lost in one of the worst ghettos in the city for two hours on foot. :headsmack:

A lot of Aspies don't drive. Some can drive short distances, but not anything beyond that.

I, on the other hand, can drive without any difficulties.

I can't drive safely. I've given it a lot of attempts in the past and just gave up as it never got any easier for me to do the more I tried. It's not the car itself I can't handle, it's the stress of all of the other drivers and city driving complexity.

If I was alone on this planet, I'd be fine driving, but with all of those other people freaking me out, it's not something I can do safely, as I can't focus well enough o do it.

When I'd try to drive at night on country roads I was fine, but the minute it was daytime with loads of people around, it was so overwhelming I was quite confident I'd crash, maybe even into a 5 year old girl walking across the street. I just can't live with that risk.

It felt very obvious to me that I wasn't wired to this activity, and that it was extremely dangerous for me to do it.

i can drive but its too fast paced for me, i get very anxious especially in intersections where I can't see whats coming over the hill until its practically too late, also alot of people around here are very wreckless drivers and impaitient assholes(you know the types who use their horn when things arent going as fast as they think things should be going, or when someones car ahead of you stalls out) i usually take the bus around. the open road i can handle, but not city driving.

I have been driving for more than 25 years, I drive a 2004 Toyota Camry V6 (the poor mans Lexus ES300).

I enjoy driving, but my next car will be something sportier, and much more powerful.

If I could afford all the gas and insurance I'd get a Vette', or a new Camaro wih the 400 HP motor. Or maybe a Dodge Challenger Hemi.
