Uggghhhhhhh......lowest common denominator continues to plummet.

-Local music radio stations talking about this "Mexican" holiday saying "Celebrate Mexican Independance Day with us at......"

-Overhearing Latinos downtown today talking about Cinqo De Mayo being "Mexico's independance day"

-Mexican-American teenagers talking about celebrating "Mexico's freedom" today

WHAT IGNORANCE. Cinqo De Mayo celebrates only a battle won by overwhelming odds in 1846. It is NOT Mexico's independance day.

People are really stupid concerning this.

Quite true, gmartinfan. Pretty sad when even young Mexican children believe the same thing that whites do.

But then most Americans know very little about the world, compared to other countries peoples', IMHO.

And I would never think of Mexico as being a "free" country or independent by a long shot, not that the US is
getting any better in that area, sad to say.

I socialized with a friend, and we drank coffee and ate sandwiches. Apparently I'm not Mexican enough to get drunk.
