Spoiler: show
The part that blew me away was the egghead who was so scared of everything earlier, who treated the snake creature as if it were a kitten. The damn thing looked a lot like a Cobra. Would you play nice with a Cobra?

Just saw it. It was aight.

Spoiler: show
All in all, it was pretty entertaining. Like you guys keep saying, they fucked up the ending pretty bad. All of the action scenes/scenes where people die were pretty predictable. At least they did a good job of not overdoing it imo.

There was something that turned me on almost in an Alien Ripley kind of way about the Shaw girl when she was running around in her panties trying to get the alien out of her. She was sexy.

Did anyone else notice how nobody seemed to be communicating with each other during the climax clusterfuck of action scenes? The chick is trying to surgically remove the alien, a couple of the dudes all of a sudden start fighting off the zombie monster (which why the fuck was he still alive?), and then the other people are with the old guy doing some shit. Like dude, what the fuck!? Then all of a sudden they're in the same place changing into their gear, and nobody mentions the fact that OH YEAH, SOME ZOMBIE JUST ATTACKED US THAT WE FINALLY SHOT AND FLAMETHROWERED 500 TIMES BEFORE DYING. And then what were you doing that whole time Shaw? OH I WAS JUST OVER THERE IN THE BACK CUTTING SOME ALIEN FETUS OUT OF MY UTERUS. IT MIGHT STILL BE BACK THERE I DON'T REALLY KNOW BUT AT LEAST IM NOT DEAD.

Ha, yeah. I always get annoyed when that happens. I see it way too often.

Spoiler: show
It would be better if she ran sideways and then the thing just toppled over and crushed her that way.

Maybe she thought it would topple over so she kept running straight? When something bigger than a skyscraper is seconds away from falling on you, I can forgive her for not thinking clear, but at least her death was understandable. The biologist that was scared of a dead alien but about to pet a live snake alien? Not understandable. Those pilots that were so ready to commit suicide when they barely knew for sure what was going on...
I didn't think the characters were very likeable, so for me it's not like Alien. I thought the film looked great though.

I thought it was very good, far better than ALIEN 3, and ALIEN RESSURECTION, and WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than the AVP movies.

BUT....

Not as good as ALIEN.

Nothing ever will be - except ALIENS.

Yeah, I enjoyed this one a lot. It was better than any of the films since Aliens. I wouldn't expect any less from Ridley Scott, master of sci fi! :D There was as much of 2001 and Blade Runner in this as there was Alien, IMO.

It was a nice return to the body horror themes of Alien. I want to go see it again to take it all in.

Blade Runner was ahead of its time, that's true and I enjoyed it a lot. But I am also a fan of Alien Resurrection. I liked
seeing Ripley kick some ass again with a head of hair, unlike Alien 3 which was a disgusting film, to say the least.

I don't mind Resurrection. It certainly wasn't as bad as people say. There is some real stupidity in it. But some good moments. It was written by Joss Whedon after all, a guy I'm a big fan of. One can almost see prototypical Firefly characters in his script for Alien 4. Oddly, Whedon is a great writer, and Jean Pierre Jeunet is a good director, yet the final product is less than the sum of its parts.

They wanted Danny (28 Days Later, Sunshine) Boyle to direct Alien 4 at one point. How cool would that have been?

Prometheus is a great movie, IMO. Damon Lindelof is not the best screenwriter in the world, but Ridley Scott is truly a pro director.
