I grew up watching Doctor Who, so I of course like from William Hartnell to John Pertwee, the theme from Tom Baker up to and including Paul McGann SUCKED, now the new ones from Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant are good but Matt Smiths I don't care for all that much.
Its a shame that so much of the video from 1964 - 1973 is lost, wouldn't be something if an employee at the BBC was such a fan that they secretly made copies and took them home and stashed them.

My ringtone is the Doctor Who theme from the Tennant era. I remember seeing a few flashes of Doctor Who growing up on PBS and wondering what the deal was with the odd man with the looooooooooooooong scarf. Didn't really get into it until lately(I was all about Monty Python, The Black Adder and Mr. Bean). I love it now, there's a lady that lives in my town that has a 60's style police box in her backyard. If she ever looks like she's going to get rid of it I want it. It even has the light on the top :) :)

The first. But it has to be seen with the original psychedelic title sequence:

The seventies were also good, but once JNT took over, pretty much everything went to shit.

The new ones are very good though. Davies and Moffatt seem to be doing everything right.

Most of my favorite episodes are with Sara Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen) I've come to the realization that she was my first oneitis, petite super cute, I loved when she pouted, and when she wore the Andy Pandy costume in the hand of fear, oh my gods she was soooo over the top cute :D

I was very saddened when I heard Elisabeth died.
I miss you, and I will always love you.

The original Hartnell version was my favourite. I like the seventies one with Baker as well, I grew up on that theme tune.

The theme for the revived series is good. The worst one was the late 80s theme when JNT took over production of the show.

The "Tom Baker" years because that is what most of us "yanks" remember, and it was when we were introduced to the series.

Sadly it never fully caught on here. Any suggestions of "where to go" with Doctor Who if someone "like myself" wanted to get "back" into it?

Star Trek "original series 1966-1969" fan here

The earlier title sequences are really nicely created imo. Back then they didn't really have fancy computers to render all these effects, so it always impresses me that they were quite inventive with the visual quality. (The light/contours blending into the faces, etc. Pretty neat). The theme itself is cool, but I suppose a favourite might be the one at 2m30s. It just sounds suitably electro-space-psychedelic for what the show is about, the style in which the beginning of the sound explodes in a very mysterious warp of noise. The new ones are great too, they carry a sense of impending imminence.

I am not really a Doctor Who fan, but I don't mind it. I just work with it a lot. I see these intros far too much. ;x

Anyone remember this show? ;) Another quite cool theme I thought.
