It doesn't matter what you believe in: God, Cosmic Energies, Atheism, whatever. We all NEED unconditional love. Love is one of those things that humans strive for. But more often than not, people aren't getting nearly enough.
That is something I definitely agree with. I recently read some excerpts of Thomas Aquinas' Suma Theologica
; this one
talks about love. He doesn't define it as an uncontrollable and romanticized emotion, like most people do, but as a disposition towards someone or something. By this definition, maybe a lot of us are loved in at least some way.
As the Philosopher says (Rhet. ii, 4), "to love is to wish good to someone." Hence the movement of love has a twofold tendency: towards the good which a man wishes to someone (to himself or to another) and towards that to which he wishes some good. Accordingly, man has love of concupiscence towards the good that he wishes to another, and love of friendship towards him to whom he wishes good.
Now the members of this division are related as primary and secondary: since that which is loved with the love of friendship is loved simply and for itself; whereas that which is loved with the love of concupiscence, is loved, not simply and for itself, but for something else. For just as that which has existence, is a being simply, while that which exists in another is a relative being; so, because good is convertible with being, the good, which itself has goodness, is good simply; but that which is another's good, is a relative good. Consequently the love with which a thing is loved, that it may have some good, is love simply; while the love, with which a thing is loved, that it may be another's good, is relative love.
Reiki is a way of sort of channeling unconditional love energy, as if it were water through a garden hose. When you receive Reiki, you are receiving it from a source of unconditional love ( be it from a deity, or wherever you think it might come from) through touch.
Think of how good you feel when you're getting a hug. How comforting it is when someone gives your hand a squeeze.
Actually I'm very selective about being touched. But cats sure feel good. I'll think of cats.
Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
So give it a shot, guys. Find a free open healing circle near you, and treat yourself to some love energy. You deserve it.
When you experience positive life energy (Ki), you begin to appreciate all living things just for the mere fact that they are living. Life is beautiful, and in being alive YOU are beautiful.
I did some Reiki when I was younger. While I don't believe the discipline itself or the symbols hold any power, let alone the power to heal any serious wounds or illnesses by itself, I do believe it is a positive thing. At its core, it consists of human closeness combined with self-suggestion; these two things have been proven to have a positive effect not only on the mood, but the immune system as well, and probably other aspects of the organism too.
But I think one could achieve similar results by doing guided relaxation (the kind used in psychotherapy) with someone. Relaxation techniques tend to use the same metaphor of energy manifested as warmth, and often include hypnotic suggestions that put you into that mindset that life is beautiful.
Mirror, are you a certified Reiki practitioner/master? If so, was it costly? Do you believe in remote healing?
