Hello,

I have tried online dating for 10yrs + with little or no success, however what has definitively put me off, has been that in all of my encounters with online dating I have been repeatedly targetted by fraudsters http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/pers ... -9589.html

Its especially insidious as these bastards know that the 'hit' rate for blokes on the internet is very low and so when a vision of loveliness actually replies to your approaches - kerching! Little knowing you're getting drawn in

Sites: Match, OKCupid, DateaGeek and EHarmony

Never had this issue, because they're always obvious and easy to avoid

Yeah scammers are pretty obvious especially on dating sites.

I suspect that dating sites use their own scams. I think the sites use fake profiles to send messages and or winks to people who have not had a contacts in some time. This is especially that case if you have not renewed you subscription. You can't read or respond to a contact unless you renew your subscription, i.e.you have to pay to read the message. I can't prove this but my experiences make me suspect this is the case.

My personal opinion is online dating sites are themselves a scam. They want paying members on their site and will post fake messages to try and lure nonpaying members to become paid members.
