On another topic: by "painless" method the assumption is painless to us, the people dying. But I also think of methods that would be less painful to others - my family and friends, other people I know who consider suicide themselves.
So I think of deliberately going too fast on my motorbike and having a crash that even police investigators would think was an accident (complete with black braking skidmark).
Or appearing to getting lost in the desert, even writing a note when I'm out there to let people know I'm at peace, happy, and I'm dying doing something I enjoy.

I would also try to get my affairs in order a bit. Not enough to make it obvious I know I'm not going to be around much longer, but enough to make a difference. Clean up house, throw away or sell junk, minimise possessions, make a will., pay bills, settle debts.

You could never make it painless for other people, but you could try to reduce the trauma.

Death by motor vehicle is quite common here in the US. Many "accidents" are nothing but a suicide using a car.

Take your seat belt off and run your car at very high speed into one of those pillars holding up an underpass and one is assured a quick and probably painless death. Thats what I have considered doing when I was suicidal anyhow, in the past.

It would do the trick, for sure. I'm glad you didn't follow through with it.
On that idea though, you'd have to try not to forget to slam on the brakes at the last second and swerve to show crash investigators you were trying to avoid the obstacle and it really was an accident.
I have also thought about sabotaging my brakes to cause a crash (but not making it look like someone was trying to murder me!)... line up a large rock that will dent the underside of your car and tear open the brake line. Something like that.

Suicide by cyanide is nasty and painfull I belive. Much better with asphyxiation by an inert gas. The problem is that it's not uncomplicated and prone to failure.

Strychnine poisoning is the one that is pretty bad and it takes awhile to achieve death. There is no antidote, but then if you want death, you wont need that anyhow. Cyanide in a proper form, is very quick and painless, AFAIK. That how Hilters "wife", Eva Braun, killed herself in the bunker. Adolph Hitler took a 9MM luger to the right temple, by his own hand.

As bad as the Nazi's were, and they were quite awful, they chose Zyklon-B as the prefered agent of death, since it releases cyanide gas, and was considered to be a more humane way to kill, if you can get over the fact that they killed lots of innocent people, that is.

Personally I think carbon monoxide is a cheap easy way to go, but you need to use an older, polluting motor to get the levels high enough to knock you out and terminate life. I have heard of people running new cars, with emission controls, in the garage and living long enough to be found and saved. Some were barely even knocked out, the car burns gas so clean.

It may be a myth that cyanide poisoning is a painless and quick way to die. Did some research that suggest that it can be painfull but didn't find any definitive evidence.

What I do know is that suicide by inhaling an inert gas, preferably hydrogen, but helium wil also work, is a pleasant way to die if done properly. I won't go into details, but it's probably easyer to go out this way that to get hold of a gun or some kind of drug that just puts you to sleep, never to wake again. Phenobarbital is an example the latter, but it can be very difficult to aquire.

Guns are used mostly by men in the US. Women here tend to use pills or cut themselves. I am not sure how painful cyanide is but it can be treated if found in time, that much I know for sure, but I suppose it would depend on timing and dosage.

Strychnine in rat poision has been used by women to slowly kill thier husbands, as it builds up in the system and is only slowly excreated.

Almost bought the farm today by going on a cycle ride.

I was ALMOST back home when I got into difficulties, and had to be brought home by a complete stranger.

So when I try to get fit, my body just won't play ball.

Fuck it. Why can't I have an OFF switch and just get the fuck outta this life?

I thank God all the time that I won't live forever. Not fearing death is a very nice feeling.

Unfortunatly I am a survivor who would kill to stay alive. I really hate that about myself.

I hear pentobarbital is a very nice way to die.

WARNING! The videos below shows people who are euthanized with pentobarbital. If you're subconsciously denying death this may not be the best thing for you to watch.

Noo!! C02 poisoning would be painful. Suffocating. Monoxide too, even worse.

picard, I've watched 1:06 minutes of the first link and I'm not sure I want to watch the rest. I have images in my head of her foaming and convulsing. Because death is never as simple as we think it is. She seems so naive about that up to 1:06, like she thinks she will just disappear. Bye dear.

You guys seen the Dexter tv series? Probably not? In one of the first season episode his father is failing to improve in a hospital and he whispers to Dex that the nurse is slowly poisoning him and Dexter should do his thing and kill her. The whole show is about a serial killer trying to come to terms with his inability to feel emotions and he has these urges to kill and his adopted father is a cop and teaches him how to select only those who deserve it and never get caught. Anyway, my grandpa died by such a goody doer, over dosed him without telling any of us, or him, on morphine. It paralyzes all muscles, the diaphragm is what kills you, which is suffocation. I was suspicious of her for some reason, wish I would have pushed her fat ass out of the room. It worked fast, his entire body flexed up about three times. Agonal gasp. Stillness. Awful stillness. His skin looked suddenly dull and yellow. Seeing the soul slip out of somebody.

I have suicidal thoughts too. Mine always involve the means with no room for error. The one females supposedly are least likely to do. However as I think through every step of the process I get caught on the part about... and then what. I still believe in God, if only because it is too painful to keep trying to think there isn't. And I can't convince myself that it would be okay. At this point anyway. And strangely I have always had enough even though the numbers don't add up at all. So there's that.

I've seen the whole clip and she just goes to sleep. No drama here. Pentobarbital is nicknamed "the peacefull pill" just for this reason. I can't think of a better way to die. If I were to go that route in the future I would definitely want this kind of death.
