You could include cars you share with somebody, like your sibling, as yours in this poll.

I was always tempted to enter the female bathrooms and steal all the thongs while they took a shower, but I was too afraid of what would happen if I got caught.

If its got wheels I can drive it. Yeah I got a car or pickup, ever since I was 18.

Motorcycles, Hot-rods, Sports Cars, Trucks (no ,not pickups, Semi's) Tractors, whatever
has a two or more wheels I can drive it, to hell if need be.

Nothing better then a fast vehicle going like a bat out of hell to me!

I can't drive safely. I've given it a lot of attempts in the past and just gave up as it never got any easier for me to do the more I tried. It's not the car itself I can't handle, it's the stress of all of the other drivers and city driving complexity.

If I was alone on this planet, I'd be fine driving, but with all of those other people freaking me out, it's not something I can do safely, as I can't focus well enough o do it.

When I'd try to drive at night on country roads I was fine, but the minute it was daytime with loads of people around, it was so overwhelming I was quite confident I'd crash, maybe even into a 5 year old girl walking across the street. I just can't live with that risk.

It felt very obvious to me that I wasn't wired to this activity, and that it was extremely dangerous for me to do it.

No to both. I have panic problems similar to what thechak mentioned. I'm still working on getting a license though, if just for emergencies.

Interesting poll, I have wondered if there is a connection between driving and having a car, and someones relationship status.
One of the reasons I never asked a girl out, or felt unable to, when I grew up was that I didn't have a car. I finally got my licence at the age of 27, but then I realised that wasn't what was holding me back, it was just an excuse, haha.

@thechak and subnormal - I'd definitely try to get my licence if I were you. Not because it's something "YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO AT YOUR AGE" or anything, but just for the mental and emotional exercise. You'll feel really good when you finally start feeling comfortable in traffic and stuff. You'll feel capable, and more independant. It's also good to be able to get away on your own. I got my motorbike licence last year (age 29) and it's one of the best things I've done. I have an on/offroad bike and I go for day rides into national parks and state forests to explore and take photo's.

After three attempts I had my driving licence at 20 and will be soon a permanent driver (we have a 3 year probation period during which a new driver has only 6 points on his driving licence) and I have a car but I left it in France so... I miss it a lot cause I love driving, though I wouldn't enjoy it as much on the roads here - small, untaken care of, winding... But weirdly enough when I'm angry it's one of the only things that can calm me down, driving, it makes me focus and I can swear and insult everyone in my car, no one will tell me to keep it quiet.

I dunno about Subnormal, but there isn't a chance in hell that will happen for me. If I couldn't do it prior to getting ill and in constant pain, there's no way I'm going to be driving with the risk of my throat going into one of it's spasms while I'm on the road. That has already happened repeatedly on car trips to see my doctor, as he's over 100 miles away and those car trips can be agony, being locked in a vehicle with that pain.

I hate even riding in cars, cause the added stress is very unpleasant. I don't think it's the cause of the problem, but it really seems to exacerbate the problems.

There's no doubt it's a huge limiting factor for relationships and in life in general to not be able to drive, though. I'm just "done" worrying about relationships anymore, or "conventional life" for that matter. It's more than enough energy and pain worrying about being "alive" in the first place, if not "living a life" anyone would want to live.

I'm ill and if I can't solve this illness, I'm willing to say fuck every last bit of being alive. In the meantime, all I can do is what I can do, and driving isn't one of those things. Neither is having a job, talking to people, or eating food. I've just got to work within my limitations, and not worry about what's outside them. Honestly, the more I worry about what's outside them, the less I feel capable of living within my limitations, so I have to keep my goals to what is attainable in the moment.

Yes.....since it was made by Honda and not the evil UAW, it's pretty reliable.

I do own a car but rarely drive it. For one I'm mostly a homebody so I rarely leave the house, and two I'm lucky to live in an area that has a decent public transportation system.

I guess it depends on where one lives. If you live in the burbs or rural area where a car is essential than yes it would make a difference. However, if you and a potential mate live right in a city like NY or Boston, then most venues such as restraunts, theaters, clubs etc should either be only a walking distance or subway/Taxi ride away.

I'm surprised to know that I'm not the only one afraid of driving. In my case it's more because I'm clumsy and get distracted veeery easily. I'd be a very dangerous driver.
