By the way, I wholeheartedly recommend Flashforward. It got cancelled because not too many people ever watched it but it had potential. :coolbeans:

If you like underrated Sci-fi you might like the "Firefly" series. Its what the "Serenity" film was based on, 500 years in the future.

Another vote for Firefly. Excellent series, it was a travesty that it only ran for the one season.

Wrong. It only ran for about three quarters of a season. Damn Fox! It seems all the best shows get cancelled. Out of the four that JW has made (Buffy, angel, firefly, Dollhouse) only one managed to reach its natural end. Even Angel which ran for five seasons had just reinvented itself and could have gone on for a few more. It had so much life left. While Dollhouse was okay, towards the end of the first season, it became brilliant. Haven't seen the second season though so I can't really comment on the rest.
I was also enjoying the Sarah Connor Chronicles despite my initial doubts about it. Also, from what I've heard StarGate Universe was fantastic (still got to see that).

Mad Men (you said it could be any genre).

Sliders was a good sci-fi show....but only watch the first two seasons...don't bother with the rest.

Yeah, the first two seasons were great. After John Rhys-Davies left. it turned to shit real fast.

Hell yeah. It just wasn't the same without him.

Another vote for Firefly here. Can't go wrong with that one. Any JW show is a winner, but that said, I have not seen much of Dollhouse yet.

I have been watching Who, and in many cases rewatching the episodes, due to me being too distracted by a certain flame haired companion whenever she's on screen.

Lexx was not a good show to watch, as Stanley Tweedle was the personification
of a very weak, pussified male. Its exactly what a "normal" would think was funny.

After Eva Habermann left it really sucked anyhow. That was one hot Piece Of-A@@!! :coolbeans:

Dollhouse is OK, but Firefly was fantastic! None of the Star Trek and Star Wars mumbo jumbo like transporters
and light sabers. There isn't even the notion of am FTL drive, so I always assumed the colonists arrived there after
hibernation at sub-light speeds over a century or more, carrying all the animals and food in embryo and seed states.

Serenity is never mentioned as being an interstellar space ship, just fast enough to fly around the solar system in a week or two, getting chased by the Alliance and almost killed by the Reavers. Of course, they do have control of gravity on board so thats something that we still need to find out more about. And their communications systems are faster then light since there is no time lag when they speak and see each other over the Cortex.

Too bad Mr. Universe wasn't in the series, BTW. He was the closest thing to a Love Shy then ever the Doctor, who couldn't read Kaylee's horniness for him, if she dropped her drawers right in front of him.

Yeah, I have been watching it on Netflix, since I never saw it on real time. Not bad, but J.W.'s women are always
portrayed as stronger then women are in real life. Men are bigger then women, so you are not going to see normal women
hitting men in the jaw or other places without being hurt.

My guess is that Joss Whedon has his own "fantasy" about women that are stronger then men like him (he is not very manly looking to me). But I admit that his shows are still fun to watch.

I think this usually makes for great characters (Adelle DeWitt on Dollhouse was just fascinating), but sometimes Whedon takes his ideas too far into feminist territory. Episode 13 of Firefly (the one where the gang defends a brothel), was just painful to watch: the women were all portrayed as sensitive, strong and responsible, and the men as mindless horny beasts with no morals.

Mal was probably LS too. He only got to kiss Inara once and he wasn't even conscious. :|

Yeah Dollhouse certainly has lots of pretty women at least but I don't think I would want tech like that around. They would mindwipe lots of people IMO.

Yeah Jayne was all shook up in that place. Of course the bad guy knocks up a whore and his wife will accept that as her child? Yeah Train Job was way better then Heart of Gold.

Perhaps Mal was LS but I got more the feeling that Inara was his oneitis, plus she was crew and a
companion. He did bang the whorehourse madam on Heart of Gold so Incel he wasnt :-)

Babylon 5 is a good one as far as finished sci-fi goes, personally I've been binging on Highlander on Hulu, and NCIS with my mom in real life.

To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman. I have seldom heard him mention her under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler. All emotions, and that one particularly, were abhorrent to his cold, precise but admirably balanced mind. He was, I take it, the most perfect reasoning and observing machine that the world has seen, but as a lover he would have placed himself in a false position. He never spoke of the softer passions, save with a gibe and a sneer. They were admirable things for the observer — excellent for drawing the veil from men's motives and actions. But for the trained reasoner to admit such intrusions into his own delicate and finely adjusted temperament was to introduce a distracting factor which might throw a doubt upon all his mental results. Grit in a sensitive instrument, or a crack in one of his own high-power lenses, would not be more disturbing than a strong emotion in a nature such as his. And yet there was but one woman to him, and that woman was the late Irene Adler, of dubious and questionable memory.

there is another television show I would recommend that has been running for almost fifty years (with a fifteen year gap). It is a heck of a challenge to watch it all. Although, when you think about it, it had less airtime than Star Trek. If you haven't watched it, I would recommend starting at the regenerated series, then maybe watching a few of the older eps: The dalek invasion of earth, The invasion, Inferno, Genesis of the Daleks, Castrovalva, Trial of a time lord, Remembrance of the daleks. These are the ones that I have seen that I would consider the best of each Doctor

Cool. I've always wanted to get into Doctor Who but I didn't know where to start given the huge amount of seasons/material.
