Why do they like to wear them so much? They don't work in an office that requires business attire, yet they wear suits every chance they get. And if it's not a suit, it's a black dress shirt. Usually with something bright thrown in to stand out like a red flower thing, or a handkerchief.

The wild west. Suffice it to say I see a lot of them. Every time they go to a club, or out to some social function it's a suit or a dress shirt. That includes the bangers, once they surpass a certain age of course. Most under 18-20 wear the usual baggy ghetto gang banger bullshit uniforms and whatnot.

not really meant to be. Just an observation I made today. By they don't have jobs requiring suits I meant the ones who literally "don't."

When Hunter S. Thompson came Bogota (in the 70's forgot exactly when), he was freaked out that even the hobos were wearing suits. Many of them still do.

Every culture has multiple classes of people, and the guiding principle of fashion is class warfare. Every class wants to emulate and be mistaken for the admired class, above, and distinguish itself from the despised class, below.

The particulars of the fashion that each class wears are largely irrelevant; what matters is the identify of the people who wear the fashion. The one exception to this is if an upper class has far more money than a lower class, and the fashion worn by the upper class is unaffordable to the lower class. For example, US celebrities previously wore formal, glamorous, expensive clothes that the despised middle class couldn't afford. But, with the rising affluence of the middle class and the proliferation of inexpensive manufactured goods, the middle class could afford formal, glamorous, expensive-looking clothes, so US celebrities largely abandoned formal wear and moved to casual clothing.

If you want to know why gang bangers wear droopy pants, goths have piercings and wear black eye makeup, Filipina girls wear white face powder, or Mexicans wear suits, examine the fashion of whom they admire and whom they despise.

"dress in a suit and the cops won't fuck with you (as much)" urban camo tactic

Really though, the state of the average man's wardrobe these days is appalling. Good on them for trying to bring the national level of sartorial flair up a notch. Even if it is a defense mechanism.

An interesting perspective!

Suits look nice.

I haven't seen one particular race wearing it more often, though. I see mostly white businessmen around here wearing them.
