The Avengers, the Dark Knight Rises, and the Amazing Spider-Man (I know people have doubts about the latter, but the new trailer kicks ass) all in one summer....the world cannot handle so much awesomeness in such a short time span.

Knew he'd be back

Still, looking forward to the comic movies over the next year, though it's mainly just The Hobbit and The Dark Knight Rises that I'm REAAAAAALY looking forward to.

My cousin loves comic books, so naturally he's hyped to the max for this. I'm not that big on superhero movies, although I do like Nolan's Batman, so I'll definitely be seeing Dark Knight Rises.

edit:
Still, IMO, nothing can beat Burton's Batman, maybe it's because I used to pretend to be Batman as a kid while I watched this on VHS. His vision captured the essence of Gotham City and the solemn despair that lurked under Wayne's playboy demeanor.

Still tear up at the end, "Merry Christmas Alfred, and goodwill toward men...and women."

wolrd war z > everything else. So excited for that movie, and the release date is kinda funny as well. Dec 21, 2012

I don't know who the hell those other 2 heroes are. Some guy with a bow and some chick. I guess they're not interesting enough? I hope batman's good. I think it has some huge expectations to live up to though.

I personally don't like the "epic" take on the alien. Crammed quarters, and plenty of bloody gore is what I like. Prometheus looks like it won't deliver up to the level. Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited for it.

Ah, crap, I'd forgotten about Prometheus, I'll add that to my list. Also, I still want to watch the new Sherlock Holmes film, though I'm not sure if it's still out. And, the Muppets are making a return. Got to see that!

An interesting observation though, Throughout this thread as well as pretty much the entire cinema going population, the most eagerly anticipated films are sequels, prequels, reimaginings ( :confused2: ) or adaptations. Aren't there any original flicks coming out soon?

In general Hollywood's run out of ideals, although david cronenberg has a new film coming out that kind of rhymes with my username "A Dangerous Method", it's about the relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, looks interesting I admit. Plus I'm a fan of his work.

Hollywood hasn't run out of ideas, it's just they're afraid the new ones aren't going to be profitable. The few original films over the past decade or so that have been mega huge and have received the most financial backing have been those by established filmmakers. At the moment, though, only Avatar springs to mind.

I try to stay away from the modern Hollywood system anyway, it's about as fake and soulless as that sign up on the hill.
