Have you seen Pushing Daisies, by the same creator? It's simply the most epicly heartwarming series ever. But it ended way sooner than it should have.

'Pushing Daisies' is lovely. It's sweet and funny, with a very appealing visual style I think, and there's also a lot of complexity in it. Ned reminds me (in concept) a bit of Ben from Carnivale in the idea that every miracle has to be paid for in some way. This will also sound *very* corny, but the character of Chuck was a real inspiration to me at some of my low points, in that she learns to really enjoy and love life, despite not being able to be affectionate or tactile with Ned.

Just started watching Dexter, My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic (mostly out of curiosity for how it has generated such an internet buzz), West Wing (yeah, I know, I'm about eight years behind with that one), and re-watching Dark Angel.

I know what you mean. Chuck was absolutely adorable. I think I had an actual crush on her, back when I watched the series. And Ned's aunts were just awesome.

I liked Dark Angel as well. It had some really deep X-men style themes if you bothered to look past the fanservice. I once watched an episode of My Little Pony too, just "for the lulz" and found it... more clever than I expected. Same happened to me with Spongebob Squarepants (at least the first couple of seasons).

Same here, that's the main reason why I made this thread. I'm also desperate to kill time until South Park returns.

Bones was one of the only crime dramas I enjoyed and watched religiously, but I think they ruined it by turning Booth and Brennan's relationship into a romantic one. It didn't have to be like that! Can't we get at least one show/movie/etc where the main couple are just good friends?

Heh, yeah, in re-watching Dark Angel...the fanservice is painfully apparent. (I watched it when I was about 12 or 13 when it was first aired here, so all that stuff went over my head, mostly). But there's genuinely good storylines in there - I wish it had better editing and maybe a slightly bigger budget. Maybe then it would have had more longevity.

MLP is rather adorable, in a very self-knowing way. I like the animation style. Spongebob Squarepants...it is pretty clever. Reminds me a bit of Ren and Stimpy. Unfortunately Spongebob Squarepants been completely killed for me; I've had to watch so many episodes when I've been looking after groups of children, I now have a Pavlovian reaction to it - whenever I hear the theme tune, I cringe and go elsewhere :D

Bones sounds interesting. I've put it on my list.

Bumping an old thread sorry..

For fans of British drama, there's also Being Human and Misfits.

The uptodate Battlestar Galactica was pretty good. But sure Firefly trumps a lot of stuff.

Going back a few years, but I really love Sharpe (Sean Bean). Really nice stuff (rifleman in the Napoleonic wars). If you want a taste of it, someone's kindly stuck some on yt. Here's some of the very first episode. The camaraderie between Sharpe and his small unit of elite rifleman is really excellent.

Uh.. another one came to mind actually. Old, again, but not bad if I recall. It was called Hornblower. I did prefer Sharpe though. ;) And no, I'm not really a history buff or anything, just happened to enjoy the shows.

If you like zombie stuff, I recommend "the walking dead" season 1. season 2, they fired season 1's writers and it turned into a soap-opera in a field with a few obligatory zombies thrown in. the good thing is, the zombies actually look like zombies, undead.

it's kinda funny, because the biggest threat to the group is their own stupidity a lot more than zombies. they end up shooting each other, lurking close to dead bodies about to reanimate, falling into holes, etc, a lot more than being overwhelmed by zombies.

there's a site specifically designed to host all the episodes for streaming, which is pretty cool.

House is my favorite. Sadly, only 4 episodes remain...

The best tv show on right now is Revenge. Or one of the best.

The premise: This girl Emily's father is framed by a community, and he commits suicide. Emily is institutionalized for her whole teenage years. After she is released from the mental hospital, she takes on a hidden identity, comes back to the community of rich people who framed and killed her father, and tricks one of the rich people to fall in love with her...all the while scheming to kill every one of the people that murdered her father, had her institutionalized, and destroyed her family.

Then she starts to fall in love with the guy she was tricking to get close to his family...so there's a lot of drama. It's violent, suspenseful, scary, and intense at parts.
