as an individual of relative political ignorance, it seems to me that the current US government is adept at employing the worst aspects of both sides of the spectrum. corporatism, corruption, restriction of freedoms and privacy from the right, whilst adopting the social policies of the left, including feminism and huge reliability on welfare (although that seems to be worse in the UK), which alone deem any nation to eventual collapse due to unsustainable infrastructures combined with an unproductive work-force.

okay what is "hard right" wise one?

because he supported abstinace education? Most Americans could care less. Because he was a church going perosn? Does that make him hard right? Because he's rich? Is that why he is hard right in you opinion?

Dude in 1988, Lloyd Benson was Michael Dukakis's VP choice to run against Bush 1st. Iin the debates he accused Bush of being a rich Texas oilman.....which was a 'true' statement...but Llyod Benson was a rich cattleman, and he was worth more than Bush, Quayle, and Dukakis combined

It's not something that can be explained so easily. Do visit http://politicalcompass.org/ and read as much as you can. Also take note of the following two images in particular:

so you personally have Newt Gingrich's test results from this test that HE took. As well as Ralph Nader's? As well as Ron Paul's? You mean to tell me that THEY personally took this test, and posted their results for the world to see?????

Bullsh*t! Whalesh*t! The results you have of the above people were done by statitical positioning, or what was assumed they would answer on the questions. I did failure analysis at IBM for my first three years of my career there. Tests and measurements like this can be skewed to make the point of the presenters favor or bias.

YOUR fail is epic. You can't come up with an answer, so you give a facepalm.

Before before I start spewing my own personal 'bias's" against your "age group" please, oh please spare me your tests and meaurements that can be put on to a graph with a few questions that fit neatly into a rigid X/Y axis. It's much more complicated than that.

I was in East Germany when it was still Communist..........a 'hard left' society, and I didn't see a workers paradise...in fact I saw people going barefoot in 1987 over there.

No, I just couldn't be bothered to come up with an answer because your post was so stupid.

Here in Canada, our hard right prime minister has gutted the national census. You'd make an excellent choice for a Conservative appointee of some sort, since you're apparently so anti-statistics.

Were you ever in Yugoslavia? That was a much closer system to the one I'm advocating. East Germany was far too authoritarian.

No I was never in Yugoslavia, but as soon as the "rigid, auhtoratian system fell" they started killing each other. Tito was AUTHORITARIAN.

They also exported that Yugo car to the states which was the worst hunk-o-crud of a car ever built. Worse than Chrsyler in the late 1970's.

So any system which stops people from killing each other is authoritarian?

Except Bush wasn't hard right....he supported amnesty for illegal immigrants, expanded Medicare and farm subsidies, increased federal funding for education, signed Sarbanes-Oxley (financial regulation), pushed for the TARP bailout and even allowed some of the bailout funds to go to the auto industry. These are not things a hard right-winger would do...Bush is just center-right.

I don't normally agree with gmartinfan on politics, but he's right about those charts. That site didn't give the test to any candidates. I have taken that test and according to it, I'm to the left of Obama economically and I'm less authoritarian than all the candidates except Ron Paul. Yet I voted for Gingrich...yeah, that test is real accurate

No, you're just too stupid to even realize what your own political position actually is.
