Fresno is California's fourth largest city. It is the first city in California "not on the coast" to reach the top-five status in size. With this, the deep internal "valley" does now have a bit more "political" clout in statewide politics.

Famous Fresnans:

-Writer and essayist, William Sayoran.
-Ross Badagsarian (aka David Seville) creator of "Alvin and The Chipmunks" (family and enterprise is still in town)
-Kevin Federline, baby-daddy to Brittany Spears' kids, and local prize horse's-ass
-R&B singer, Brandy and 1990's TV star from "Moesha"
-Alan Autrey, former Fresno mayor (2001-2009) and "Bubba" from 1980's/1990's TV drama "In The Heat Of The Night"
-Cher (no more needs to be said here)

Famous Alcolades:

-Fresno is evidently the "drunkest" city in America according to rates of tickets issued for DUI nationwide(then again, Fresno enforces this more because the city is broke)
-Fresno is evidently the "dumbest" city 'west of the Mississippi' according to the SAT national average
-Fresno no longer has the highest murder rate in California. We fell one notch to "number 2" after Merced. Fresno has ruled the number one spot for twenty years running.
-Of the the top ten largest cities in California, Fresno has the the highest poverty rate.
-Fresno has the highest obesity rate in California.

Interesting:

-Fresno was the first city in America where "ATM" cards were test marketed in the 1960's and early 1970's. In 1990, over 70% of Fresnans already had ATM cards!
-Fresno has the best "recycle" rate in California, and is evidently second in the nation behind Boston, beating out San Francisco, Santa Cruz and LA. Fresno has had mandatory trash seperating since 1981 (FIVE bins here), and mandatory composting.
-Fresno has the "second" oldest professional, continious symphony in California
-The first "modern cloverleaf interchange" was test-run in Fresno in 1951, and adopted for the national Interstate system several years later.
-In 2008, Fresno State University's baseball team came outta nowhere, and won the "Ncca college world series for baseball championship" shocking just about everyone. Including Fresnans.

I know obesity is a major problem in the USA, and some states have more fat people than others, but I thought California was one of the more slimmer states, or was "Baywatch" one big lie?

Fresno is a long way from the Pacific Ocean. 150 miles or three hours or so.

And its in central CA, not LA, the land of fruitcakes and those Baywatch beach bunnies.

Hey maybe the big quake will hit CA and Fresno will then have beachfront property.

when the zombie apocolype comes,

A) most zombies will be fat
B) you only have to run faster than the slowest people.

even slightly overweight people like me, will be able to last a little longer due to all the fat disabled people that will be available like a buffet.

Well, I dunno about that, Stranger. You guys hear about the crazy guy down here who ate the other guys face? They shot him several times before he stopped!

I wonder if Bath Salts could make a difference if a person is obese or not?
