I love a good sci-fi movie.
I'm not talking about Men In Black III. I like the quiet ones, or the poignant ones.

I like these, for example:

Moon
Space Odyssey
Blade Runner
Solaris
The Fall (maybe more fantasy. In a similar vein, I also love Pans Labyrinth)

I am always looking for more
Figured I see if people here have more suggestions.

Hmm understated or poignant Sci-Fi shtuffs...I'll give it a whirl!

THX 1138
12 Monkeys (La Jetee which it's based off is both your criteria.)
Brazil
Andromeda Strain
Dark City

I'll keep it short for other contributors! Also Moon rocks, an oft overlooked recent gem. :coolbeans:

That movie really got me. The lighting, the story, the character development, the balls. Something for the whole family (or incel)

You picked the right subject. I love science and science-fiction myself.

These are some of my faves, most (OK, all of them) from the 1960-70's
time period:

Soylent Green
Westworld
Omega Man
Planet of the Apes (Original film)
Colossus: The Forbin Project
A Clockwork Orange
Silent Running
Dark Star
Zardoz
A Boy and his Dog
Logan's Run
Alien
Damnation Alley
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Mad Max
Road Warrior (OK, it was filmed in the 1980's, so shoot me)

And of course:

"Star Wars-A New Hope", from which Hollywood
really took off into the science-fiction era, on both
film and TV.

BTW, welcome to love-shy.com, baked squid! :D

I love sci fi movies. Both the cerebral, slower paced, ones, like:

2001 A Space Odyssey
Blade Runner
Alien
Moon

and the more action packed ones like:
Aliens
Star Wars
The Terminator
The Matrix
Star Trek movies, especially Wrath of Khan
Planet of the Apes
District 9
Soylent Green
Logans Run

etc

You've come to the right place if you wanna discuss sci fi. A man after my own heart!

Thanks for the recommendations.

I saw this movie a few years ago. Eden Log

It is pretty good, but it does have a horror element there, if that is a deterrent to anyone

Blade Runner
2001
Alien
Minority Report
The Abyss (Don't understand why they haven't released this on Blu-ray yet?)
The Thirteenth Floor
Dark City
The Matrix

Surprised no one mentioned "A.I."
Yea it has sentimental undertones which are typical in a Spielberg film, but I still thought it was top notch, Spielberg's best film imo.

I really liked A.I. when I watched it for the first time. That is, I liked it until what I thought was the end. Then the movie went on and on, and it began to feel a little tedious for me. I'd still call it a good movie, but not great - in my opinion, of course.

Where at in the film did you think it should have ended?
I do agree with you, the last 30 minutes did drag on. The ending was pretty bizarre too.

A lot of classics mentioned here, which I admire.

However I love also trashy, gory and sleazy sci-fi/horror hybrids from 80's like "Galaxy of Terror", "Forbidden World" or "Alien Predator".

Wealth and power are means to women; women are means to genetic eternity.

I only vaguely remember now. But, yes, the last 45 minutes, I'd say. I thought the movie was over and then they went hundreds of years into the future and kept it going. It was a cool idea, but just seemed anti-climatic.

ooh, I just remembered this little talked about Robert Altman film called Quintet.

I loved it.

Set during a future ice-age, in a doomed city, and starring Paul Newman (1979). I recommend!
